I find wearing glasses very useful for disuading passes from men who don't know how to read. :)

I feel very sorry for anybody who is so insecure about their looks that they would be willing to change them drastically (i.e.: girls who wear glasses getting contacts because they think they look better). Glasses are fashion statements and a lot of people now get them without any perscription because they like the way they look.
