in which i buy books

So I've been holed up in my apartment. The better to not spend money on anything (assuming I avoid online shopping sites. And I do. I just add to my wishlist and it almost feels like shopping). All I've bought for the last couple of months, pretty much, is groceries. And a few movie tickets.

But today I knew I really really needed to get out in an effort to cheer myself up. So I took myself out to eat, reread part of a good familiar book (Lois McMaster Bujold's Mirror Dance) while I dined. And then I went to ye olde Half Price Bookstore.

Bought two cool books.

I found two Karen Elizabeth Gordon books that I don't have yet! Woo! I got both Torn Wings and Faux Pas : A Flashbook of Style, a Beastly Guide Through the Writer's Labyrinth and Intimate Apparel : A Dictionary of the Senses. Both first edition hardcovers, each for $4.98. Yay!

Dark Mirror? A Bujold I haven't read? Or is this gong to turn out to be another name for Mirror Dance? Say more about the Elizabeth Gordon books. I don't think I've ever heard of her but the titles sound interesting.

Oops! I meant Mirror Dance (and have now edited the entry to reflect that).

Karen Elizabeth Gordon is best known for her book The Transitive Vampire, which you may have heard of. A really cool book about things grammatical.
